Sam Tomlinson excited by Lotus drive

Sam Tomlinson enjoys racing in the Lotus Exige Trophy at Snetterton

Sam Tomlinson stepped up to race in the Lotus Exige Trophy at Snetterton on the back of a successful campaign in the BARC Mighty Mini Championship.

The Cambridge-based Skip UK and Camclad Steelworks-backed driver was competing with Kimbolton outfit Track Group Ltd at Snetterton.

After qualifying eighth, Tomlinson made a poor start and lost places.

He eventually managed to claw his way back up the field to finish ninth.

Tomlinson started race two from second and after a poor start a more confident drive ended with him in seventh place.

He said: “To be driving the Exige was incredible. With new tyres and more time behind the wheel I’m confident we can be a title contender for the 2017 season.”
